MAGNOLIA, Ark. – First year head coach Mike McCarty and his staff enjoyed a successful Wednesday morning on National Signing Day 2021 as Southern Arkansas inked 39 high school standouts to join the Mulerider Football program next season. Highlighting the haul of new talent were 23 defenders and 11 recruits from the state of Arkansas.

"We are very proud of our 2021 signing class," noted McCarty, who was named the program's 20th head coach on November 12. "Considering all of the COVID-19 concerns, our University worked hard assisting our staff as we brought these great, young men to campus. We are looking forward to the fall when this class can showcase its talent to the community of Magnolia and Southern Arkansas University."

In addition to the bevy of defensive players signed, SAU grabbed 15 offensive players and a long snapper and the signing class' average GPA stands at 3.4.

With the geographical location of Southern Arkansas University, the Muleriders continued to take advantage of the proximity of the Lone Star State as they signed 24 student-athletes from Texas. An additional four signees hail from Louisiana and one calls Idaho home.

S.A.U. hit the small classifications and grabbed up some hidden gems....
A big key for them going forward is mining the small classifications and finding the right program fits from Bryant, Pine Bluff, NLR, Magnolia, Camden Fairview, and El Dorado. If you can get into those schools and find kids and match them with the rural kids I really think you can win big there.
