What a day it was! There was a lot of great talent and some really close games. Pulaski Academy once again proved themselves to be King of the Hill, repeating in the same fashion as last year - losing a game to Searcy, only to win every game afterwards to win the title.

Layne Hatcher really settled in and was more aggressive on his throws by game 3 of tournament play. He was leaning into his throws on his lead foot while bringing his throwing shoulder forward and had great velocity. He really gained confidence as the day went on. With those mechanics and that confidence, the sky is the limit with this kid.

Jaren Watkins did what he does best - showcased his speed, quickness, and great leaping ability. I don't care if he's 5'5". This kid can can play like a 6'2" receiver. He made an excellent catch for a touchdown in the semi-final game. The defender was all in his face. Jaren has a great ability to look a pass into his hands and not be distracted. Yes, this kid has all the tools to go to the D-1 level. Colleges need to quit looking at his height and start looking at what this kid can do as well as ANYONE!

Also, you don't think much about defense when talking 7-on-7, but the PA D really played better as the day went on, making key plays throught the day.

I was very impressed with many teams during the day, but I was impressed with Searcy. They are really good. They could be a really, really good team this 2016 season.

Searcy did a great job. They played Jared and aggressively, but I think they ran out of gas late in the day.

LR Christian, Lakeside, and West Memphis were all solid as well.

This was the first taste of football for me, so I'm looking forward to some team camps and more 7on7's before the season gets here.
