The votes are in and the appeal was REJECTED.
Here is what Siloam Springs proposed earlier in the year:
Siloam Springs: Allow 6A schools to play in two 6A conferences during the football regular season only. *6A North/East: Jonesboro, Marion, Searcy, Mountain Home, Greenwood, Russellville, Siloam Springs and either Hall, JE Fair or Parkview *6A South: Benton, El Dorado, Lake Hamilton, Pine Bluff, Sheridan, Texarkana and either Hall, JA Fair or Parkview
Allow 7A schools to play each other in two 7A Conferences during the football regular season only. *7A West: Bentonville, Fayetteville, Har-Ber, Heritage, Rogers, Springdale, Northside, Southside *7A Central/South: Van Buren, Central, Conway, Cabot, Catholic, North Little Rock, Bryant, West Memphis
All sports other than football would continue to play in geographic conferences as currently assigned. All sports would continue to have separate 6A and 7A state championships with seeding and playoff systems determined by the 6A and 7A Principals Association respectively.
The Arkansas Activities Association board denied request, but voted 16-2 to allow the AAA to restructure the conference alignment and send a mail ballot out to the 33-member schools of 7A/6A.
Ballots were due October 19th, and have been returned. The appeal had a vote of 20 for and 12 against, however, that did not give the required 2/3rds vote needed to pass the appeal.
