The Arkansas Officials Association will now perform background checks on anyone wanting to become an official. Anyone who has plead guilty to or been convicted of a felony will be barred from the association.

The AAA has also endorsed new game ending procedures for football. If a non-conference game is called before halftime, it will be ruled "no contest". If the game is beyond halftime, it will be called complete. If it is a conference game, the game can be terminated at the point of interruption if both schools agree. If both schools do not agree, the game will restart at the point of interruption with the existing score on the board.

All canceled or postponed conference games must be rescheduled for the following Saturday between 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. Both schools must agree to the start time.

Shiloh Christian looks to move back to the 1-4A conference after moving up to the 5A-West this past reclassification cycle. The Saints are citing travel reasons for wanting to move down.

The AAA placed a "do not pass" recommendation on the 16-48-48-48-48-remainder of schools classification splits. This proposal will combine Class 5A and 6A if it does pass.

The AAA is also proposing to add the July 4th holiday to the two week athletic dead period.

They also placed a "do not pass" recommendation on a proposal to extend the dead period by one week, making it three weeks long.

Basketball notes:

Barton Coliseum, Verizon Arena, and The Summit Arena are expected to make pitches to host the state basketball finals.
