Welcome to week 7! There have been a lot of good games this year, and we've learned a lot about most teams.
I do want to make a couple of points on a couple of games this past weekend:
The GPR had Fountain Lake (0-5) favored over Arkadelphia (3-2) by 5 points. They defeated the Badgers 25-20. I just want to reiterate this system ranks teams according to past performances and cares nothing about records. This game was an example of just that. This goes against the traditional thought process of predictions, but I do not believe in the traditional process.
The GPR has Nashville a 1-point favorite over Joe T. Robinson. We know the Scrappers prevailed in a tremendous football game, 31-28. This week you will notice the GPR has the Scrappers and Senators are once again ranked 1 and 2 (although Prairie Grove shot to the 3 spot after their win over Shiloh Christian). In traditional voting, even with the two teams evenly matched, Joe T. Robinson may slip a couple of spots. My thinking has always been...if two teams evenly matched play an even game, why would anybody think about making further separation from the loser to the winner just because a team lost? In this system, it's mathematically possible for a team to slip in between Nashville and Robinson, for example, but this numeric system does not make Robinson a lesser team just because they lost.
