Solid once again. I expected Har-Ber to make the jump they did. Greenwood ahead of Pine Bluff is interesting as is England above Mount Ida and Junction City.

His system is the most accurate in the state over the past few years. It is all based off of a computer formula using strength of schedule, and other dynamics. Steve can go into further explanation of it when he logs back on.

It needs rebooted then, because when a team is unbeaten and ranked below a team it has beaten, it's not very accurate. Sometimes common sense has to have a part in things. Conway Christian couldn't beat any of the 3 teams ranked from the 6, I think the 3 wins they have this year are over teams with 5 or 6 wins combined.

None of it makes any sense, just the other day he said the 6 was the toughest conference in 2A, but now he has a team from the 5 that is .500, ahead of the 2 best teams in the 6. Heck just last year in the playoffs des arc went to conway Christian and ran then off their own field.

Conway Christian has a loss to Haskell Harmony Grove who is 5-1 and has one major opponent and they were blown out, so that may be considered a bad loss. No one knows yet. Only time will tell. Christian has an 8-point loss to a quality 3A Episcopal team, and 7-point loss to #2 England. Those are quality losses. The Power Poll doesn't care about wins or losses. It only cares about performance. An example is last week 1-4 NLR was pick by 3, and won by 6, to 4-1 Jonesboro. Record means nothing.

They have 0 quality wins. They play in what may actually be the worst conference in 2A. Their playoff run will end with the first game they play, just like last year when they won the 5 and des arc went into their house and smashed them.

So how can you remotely try to justify hazen being above mccrory?

There aren't any teams from conference 6 that will do much in the playoffs either. They will get crushed when they go up against the teams from conference 8 like they always do. The only teams that matter in 2A are Junction City Rison and Mt Ida. No one else has anything for those three and one of them will be the state champion this year.

I would bet that the 8 doesn't win the title this year, and it has only been Junction city that's been supporting the 8. Other than the year k.d. lead strong to the title and there are no k.d.'s this year. I know since 2008 des arc has eliminated every other team from the 8 it has faced. As for mount ida, everyone was saying the same about gurdon last year and we know how that turned out against the 3 seed from the 6. The 6 will be represented in the title game.

The 6 had half of the final 8 last year and I wouldn't be surprised to have 3 or 4 of the final 8 again this year.

1. It's power ratings, Not a poll. Huge difference.
2. While the 5 is historically bad, England has what it takes to make a deep playoff run.
3. Mt Ida isn't Gurdon. They're much deeper. They are the only team IMO that has a shot at winning it all other than the two heavyweights from the 8. I said it three years ago when I saw their 45 man junior high team run through the 5 (they were in the 5 then before moving to the 7).
4. The 6 isn't as good as the league has been the last couple of years. Just my opinion. I could be wrong though.

Outside of England. The 5 is terrible.

And I understand it's a power ratings, but there is no logical answer for hazen with 3 losses to be ahead of undefeated mccrory who they lost to.

Gatecrasherfan, I appreciate your rational comments.
1) You are absolutely correct. Power rankings are not the same as a poll. It's very different, and some people don't understand power rankings. Take LR Christian for instance, most people had them ranked #2 in 5A last week. I had them #3. They won by 1 point to Greenbrier, rated by me as #16 in 5A last week. Most polls today still have LRC #2. I will have them much lower for obvious reasons you seem to understand. The power rankings do not care about last year or five years ago. It doesn't care about tradition.
2) England does have that chance. That conference has to prove itself since they are know to be an "out" early. The computer had them #2 last week. Only time will tell.
3) Great pick on Mt. Ida. Big team to watch. They knocked off Bearden (8) for the title in 2007. But it's not about tradition. Lol!
4) You could be correct about the 6. I may be wrong. We may ALL be wrong. We shall see! That's why I have so much fun with this!!!!!
